The Health Collection: Kids don’t always listen to adults when it comes to their health…
They do listen to the students in the Connect with Kids Health Collection. The Health classroom videos feature real kids that your students can relate to, sharing their challenges and accomplishments about nutrition, competition, body image, the environment and more.
When you purchase the Health Collection, you’ll receive one of three Health Series. Choose from:
- Health Series 1: Growing Up. Topics are: Growing Up, Your Family, Abstinence, Managing Stress, Emotional Health, Pregnancy & Birth, Healthy Choices, Adulthood, Peer Relationships, Dating Relationships.
- Health Series 2: Peers and Pressures. Topics are: Alcohol, AIDS and STDs, Tobacco, Harmful Behaviors, Infectious Diseases, Depression & Anxiety, Mental Disorders, Abuse of Legal Drugs, Preventing Drug Abuse, Non-Infectious Diseases.
- Health Series 3: Body Language: Topics are: Nutrition, Body Image, Dieting, Physical Appearance, Health Care, Team Sports & Competition, Physical Fitness, Eating Disorders, A Healthy Environment, Mind-Body Connection.
Each Series contains:
- 10 videos with two eight-minute story/teaching segments per video.
- A comprehensive Curriculum Guide with more than 80 interactive student activities including 40 student handouts; vocabulary lessons and discussion questions for each segment, and more than 70 classroom overheads.
- An assessment rubric to evaluate students’ performance and participation
- State standards correlations for Language Arts, Social Studies and Health
- Health Parent Outreach, a six-video series with meeting resources that helps parents (PTAs/PTOs, parent workshops) learn more about children’s health issues and reinforces the Connect with Kids classroom programs. Topics are: The Big Hurt (youth obesity); First Comes Love (early dating/sexual experiences); Legal Drugs, Lethal Highs (abuse of prescription drugs); Ripped Apart (adolescent steroid use); The Risk Within (risky behaviors); Silent Epidemic (AIDS/STDs)
